Rest in Peace Ella

Ella – 2002 – 2009

It is with deep sadness that I post this obit for my Dog Ella. She passed away suddenly last night in tragic fashion. I rushed her to the Pet ER as she was suffering from an uncontrollable seizure and there was nothing they could do to help. The sadness I feel today is as deep as it gets.

I found Ella when she was abandoned along with some litter mates when she was 6 weeks old. She was short, fat and black so I named her after my favorite Jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald. Ella was a Australian Cattle Dog mix (heeler) possessing the intelligence, determination and energy that made her so special for me. Many know that my business is DogWatch Hidden Dog Fences and I train dogs on the perimeter fences and for other behavioral problems. Ella was my helper. Her herding instinct allowed her to train other dogs to stay inside of the flags with ease. She was my shadow for almost 5 years. She didn’t obey – she listened to me. There was no need to give her commands, you could just talk to her in conversational tones. If I sent her out with an employee, she obeyed them. When she stayed with friends, she listened to them like she did me.

Ella would herd anything and everything. This included and was not limited to other dogs, cattle, horses, Koi fish, frogs and unfortunately an old blue haired woman on a walker ;). She couldn’t stand to see anything move that was not under her control. She had this internal mission that made her life complete.

I work with people and their Dogs all day long. All dog owners know that Dogs live a short life and that we must be prepared to have our heart broken and have the courage to know when it is time to pull the plug. I know that all dogs are special and unique and that my sadness is not greater than all good dog owners when faced with their

ultimate loss. Many people have been blessed like me to have a dog that is simply perfectly connected to them. God put Ella in my life and we were a perfect match. May she rest in perfect peace.

    Iam,

As Ella runs through the lush grasses of Heaven chasing rabbits and squirrels, I’m sure she is telling all her new found friends there that she had the best master on Earth. Thoughts going out to you on this sad occasion.

“Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…. ”
